NAMES PLEASE...

So what happens when I write THE END when I finish writing a story. I open up a new window and start another story. This new one is about Adele and Remington (Remy) who both want a certain ranch but the owner decides to make them both work the ranch together for a month before he'll make a decision about who is to buy it.

There's an old cow dog on the place and since I couldn't come up with a name for him I asked for a little help on FB a couple of days ago. He is now Boss and the name fits him very well. But now I have another animal name request, a couple of them actually. There's a mama cat that's been on the ranch for years. She's a gray tabby with nothing much unusual about her.

And there's also a rooster who has the run of the ranch. He sits on the front porch rail every morning and crows about dawn. It drives the four kids who are on the ranch crazy!

I need a name for the cat and one for the rooster...want to help me name them? I will mention you by name in the acknowledgement letter if I choose the name you come up with.

Just leave your ideas in the comments and I'll choose the final winner for the daily contest from the comments left today only! Come on folks, I've got the hero's name, the heroine's name and the four kids...Bella, Jett, Leo and Nick. I just need that pesky rooster's name and the cat's! HELP!!!

  1. I had a rooster named Roho who would sit on my front porch to do his crowing! My mom also had one named Jerry Lee. He hated my step father so bad that he would fly off the roof of the house to flog him. One day my step dad threw a 2x4 at him and broke his leg. My Mom paid 3-400.00 to have a pin put in his leg. That rooster would still flog him.
Cats names? Hmmm I have had many! Let's see I lost my car of 19 years and her name was Montana (we called her tanna). We have had a Tia, Casper, Morris, and the three I have now are Stuey, Boots and Jäger. Can't wait till you need A name for a horse! Lol Can you tell that I live on a farm. Sometimes I think it's the funny farm!

  2. I had lots of cats as a child and our most prolific one was named Twinkle! She loved me and hated my mom! Hubby and I have had Tiger who passed and currently BeBee And CeCee but no roosters! When we first married our neighbor had a rooster from hell but no name! Demon might be good!

  4. LOL! I had a rooster named Red. My former cat was named Belle... but she wasn't a gray cat. What about Lady Grey? Or Gunsmoke? Tinsel? Graypoupon? Smoke? Thanks for all your giveaways!

  11. Well, I recently adopted a shelter dog (hound/lab mix) his name is Jasper, and he is a total goofball so the name suits him. I also have two inside cats named Casper and Cleo, as well three feral cats Scarface, Scardy Cat and Baby Girl. We have had them spayed. But our sweet Baby Girl was recently injured and we now have her created in downstairs until she has surgury to remove her bad leg. Finger crossed all goes well. I was lucky enough to win an opportunity to name a charachter in one of your upcoming books, from the Brenda Novak Diabetes Auction last year. Can not wait for it to come out next year. Happy name hunting.!

    1. My husband would name the gray tabby "Momma" or "Cat"! (Trust me on this...he has!) My own beautiful gray kitty is "Smokie." (My youngest son who was still living at home with me at the time and I both came up with this name independently, so "Smokie" it was!) Other kitty names: Mischief, Squirrel (Have you seen the video of the baby squirrel being raised by a momma kitty along with her own babies? It even purrs when petted!), Mouse.
Rooster: BeGone! Doodle, Rascal, Buster, Bill, Harry. Or Moose!

  13. I would name the kitty-cat Mazie. Why? Well, I don't know, but I have always wanted a cat named Mazie, however I didn't think my grandmother would appreciate it. Her name is/was Mazie Bell (a true southern name). The rooster, I would name Spike. His constant crowing would make me want to put a spike through him!

  14. Loved the names you picked for the rooster and the cat Miss Carolyn. I was going to suggest Big Red for the rooster and Sassy for the cat. I love waking up every morning and while I am having my first cup of tea in the morning reading your blog. I don't read the news paper nor do I watch the news. Too mush bad stuff being done. I think that is why I like romance novels, you know no matter how many twists and turns it takes them they are going to get their HEA

  17. Our 13th cat is named Sadie, courtesy of the girl at the Dollar General, who asked my husband as he was leaving with our stuff, can't you take this kitten home, she just showed up and she is starving, so off she went to the Drop Your Animal Off on US Farm. And she manipulates my husband, that cat is always in the house.
